In the news:
Elyes is set to star in a new ITV drama, called 'Identity'. The show is going to be a six-part series and evolves around a police unit formed to combat identity-related crime. You can read the article Here

I think we can also safely say that Elyes will not be returning to Waterloo Road. There is no mention of his return anywhere as of yet, and he has been written out of the intro video, which isn't a good sign.

Three years of EGB: Come Celebrate the fandom!

I just want to give a quick shout-out to all my lovely friends on the EGB who have been celebrating the EGBirthday today! I love you all and thank you so much for not deserting the EGB when things slowed down. Life is hectic and ever changing, which takes my attention away from the thing that gave me so many friends and such a wonderful time on the net: The EGB.

I'm glad to say that it survived for it's third year, and is now swiftly moving on to it's fourth. The EGB will live on for as long as there are members, and I hope they will keep coming... Especially now that Elyes is tuning up the Gabel goodness again!

So please, come party in Gabelfan land and join in the fun! Drinks and Love Hearts on the house!

Shades - Review

Something I found thanks to Google Alert :) It's a review for the play featuring Elyes. I don't have much info on it at the moment, but it's an interesting review. Not much mention of Elyes, but worth a read.

You don't go to the Royal Court expecting a romantic comedy, but under the admirable, open-minded directorship of Dominic Cooke, anything is possible these days, and Shades turns out to be something
both special and unexpected – a Muslim Bridget Jones's Diary.

You rarely see the word Islamic these days without fundamentalist following hard behind. Alia Bano's delightful play, presented as part of the Court's Young Writers Festival, offers a much-needed reminder that not all Muslims are followers of Jihadist mullahs.

Set in present-day London, our heroine seeking Mr Right is Sabrina, a British university-educated events organiser whose family hails from the North-West Frontier in Pakistan. She shares a flat with two gay male friends (one of them a Muslim) and doesn't wear hijab.

We first encounter her at a Muslim speed-dating evening (I certainly had no idea such events existed) where Sab, who already hears the ticking of the biological clock, is hoping to find the man of her dreams, or at least a man with a brain and a pulse. And in the course of the play she finds that she has to choose between the plausible, superficially sophisticated Ali, and the more devout and traditional Reza.

Sabrina's gay friend Zain delivers some provocative rants about those he calls the fundos – not least his view that Islamic extremists are largely driven to murderous violence by thwarted sexuality. But in the character of Reza, Alia Bano draws a much more sympathetic picture of a devout Muslim, who has no time for violence and wishes to be regarded as both English and a follower of Islam.

Such analysis, however, makes the play sound far more solemn than it is. As the characters set about organising a charity fashion show for Gaza, and the devious Ali attempt to put the mockers on burgeoning romance, the play proves delightfully fresh, funny and touching, as well as a genuine eye-opener into the different attitudes of British Muslims.

Nina Raine's lively production, wittily designed by Lucy Osborne on a fashion-show catwalk, can't quite disguise the fact that the plotting is a touch schematic, but the show's breezy humour and generosity of spirit make ample amends.

Stephanie Street gives a delightfully engaging performance as the confused heroine whose attitudes and emotions are constantly challenged, while Amit Shah brings both troubled decency and a lovely touch of sly humour to the role of Reza. There is outstanding support, too, from Navin Chowdhry as Sabrina's outrageous gay friend, from Matthew Needham as his likeable English boyfriend, and from Elyes Gabel as the creepy villain of the piece.

Shades proves a feelgood gem of a rom-com, deftly combining an insider's revealing insight into Islamic Britain with cracking entertainment values.

Waterloo Road!

Just a quick note from me. I just got reminded thanks to an add on the BBC, but Waterloo Road is coming back this Wednesday at 8.00 pm! It should feature Elyes and Luke Bailey (Sam from Casualty). Make sure you catch it!

Other than that I want to wish you all a very happy new year! All the best and I hope it will be a great year for all.

I hope we can expect more music from Elyes this new year, and hopefully the release of Boogeyman 3. I'm not expecting too much of that, but I still want to see it!

If I have the time I'll get up an Episode Review for the episodes of Waterloo Road that feature Elyes. I'm still really busy, but I'll do my best!

Excuses, Apparitions and more excuses

Hello everybody!

A quick note from me after a long day of college. I was just casually going through the tv guide, when I noticed Apparitions is on again tonight.
And I got painfully reminded of my ignorance and lack of posting Gabelfanland news. So I figured it was pretty much now or never, and I opted for the now, simply because I owe it to each and every one of you.
Here's my story. Run if you still can.

I started the Elyes Gabel Board 2 1/2 years ago, with the intention to get together as many fans as I could find. I was sad that there wasn't any kind of appreciation towards this great guy of an actor (and musician nowadays), and I wanted to put an end to that.
I posted and worked on the board and made friends and had fun. We shared our problems and talked about everything Casualty.
I always ment for the EGB to be forever, no matter what. I would even pass it on to a new owner if I had to. I wouldn't stop it.
It went pretty well for those 2 1/2 years, even when Elyes left Casualty I managed to keep up with the little news that came in.
But then came one of the biggest moments of my life; College. Suddenly I was rushed into this whirlwind of crazy schedules and mad assignments and big projects. I had silly hours in college and then there was my saturday job to juggle around aswell.
I'm glad to say I survived the first exams, but now there's even more to worry about. I've got three days of college, work experience, my job on saturday and homework.
And as if I'm not busy enough, I'm attempting another year of NaNoWriMo. You won't be blamed if you call me insane. I pretty much am.
But even my writing had to take a backseat, no matter how determined I was. I just can't work it all out in the same time, and less important things need to wait.

And so my inner fan left Gabelfanland for a while, completely ignoring my responsibilities as your source of Elyes goodies. My sincere apologies.
I don't want to tell you all this just to complain or tell you how sad I am (believe me, I'm not. I'm still a happy person and I love what I'm doing), I just wanted to but everything in perspective. We all know how it goes in life, things start happening and you have to make room for those things to work.

But enough about me now. The most important message of the blabbing above is that I want to try and keep up with everything that comes in, and I will try to post whenever needed. I don't want to promise anything, because I know how that goes ;) But I'll try my hardest!

Now on to the more important things: Elyes Gabel.

The man himself. I truly hope you all realised that Apparitions starring Elyes was on last week on Thursday!! If you didn't, you can still catch it on iPlayer tonight, but I bet you can find it to download somewhere.
If I find the time I might scurry around on the internet and try to find some clips to share with you guys!
The new episode is on tonight at 9.00 pm, but this time without Elyes. I will be back soon with a summary and episode review of the entire thing! Hopefully around sunday, just prod me until I post!

Then there's something else I just found out about: "Dead Set" is Elyes's new project. A short summary:

During a fictional series of Big Brother, a zombie outbreak occurs, but the
house-mates are unaware of the impending doom outside of the Big Brother House.

He plays Danny in the entire five episodes. I'm going to look into it when I'm not as tired as I am now, because I will mess up now.

Boogeyman 3 news is on it's way too, just keep watching this spot!

Elyes for a Good Cause!

And yet again, there's news in Gabelfan Land!

First of all, Elyes is part of a group who have recorded a single against knife crime.

Actors and sports stars have come together to record a rap to discourage young people from carrying knives.
The collaboration, UK Flow, is led by Sheffield-based actor and singer Stephen Nicholas, who wrote the track called Don't Carry Knives. Nicholas got the idea for the song after hearing about the many deaths from stabbings across the country.
Joining Nicholas at Yellow Arch studios in central Sheffield were world champion boxer Johnny Nelson and Hollyoaks star Lee Otway.
Girls Aloud and players from the England football and rugby squads have also
given the project their support.

Then there's the group's Facebook Page and Myspace Page, both including a picture of Elyes. As said on their Facebook page, the group (I'm not sure if it's in it's entirity, but I would think so) is performing at the Love Music Hate Racism Concert on the 6th of september. They're supporting the Kaiser Chiefs.

Then there's the other thing. Remember our previous speculation about the picture from Waterloo Road's new series? I think I can confirm that it is in fact Elyes on that picture.

It's all getting official in Gabelfan-land

Well, hello. It's been a while, hasn't it? You'd probably be happy to hear that there is actually News in Gabelfan-land. Big news. And a big questionmark raising over our heads as a new picture is revealed...

Straight to the more official news first:
Elyes is officialy staring in Boogeyman 3 as Jeremy. It's in post-production, and set to be released in 2009. This can still change though, as nothing is ever certain in the post-production stage. He is part of the supporting cast.

***Spoilers ahead***

I have found the following info for you from Joblo.com:

When college sophomore Sarah Morris witnesses the alleged suicide of her
roommate, it sets into motion a series of horrific events that cause Sarah to
fear the supernatural entity known as The Boogeyman. As she tries to convince
the rest of her dorm that the Boogeyman does exist, the evil force grows
stronger and her friends begin to pay the price. Now Sarah must stop this
ultimate evil before the entire campus falls prey...

And a little info about Elyes's character Jeremy, from Moviehole.net :

[ JEREMY ] appears to be 20 years old, OPEN TO ALL ETHNICITIES, a skinny, shaggy haired alterna-rocker, boyfriend to Lindsay. Following Sarah's visit to his dorm room, in which she shares Dr. Allen's theories on the Boogeyman, Jeremy discovers Lukas missing and the bong he was smoking from earlier smashed into pieces. Jeremy quickly becomes another victim to the Boogeyman. SUPPORTING

So that's something to look forward to. Sort of.

Then there's this:

I received an email from Mary-Kate, telling me that pictures from the 4th season of Waterloo Road had leaked out (see above), and that the third person from the left looks a lot like Elyes. Coincidence, or is it really him? That's what we'd like to find out.

Looking closely and zooming in, I'd say it could well be him. There is no official record of his part in Waterloo Road just yet, but as it is being filmed, there probably wouldn't be any anyway.

So what we want is your opinions. Is it Elyes on the picture?

I'll keep you posted on news and updates, and let's hope it is him, and we'll get some Elyesness in a few months :)

Renewed EGB

Just thought I'd tell all you faithful readers that the EGB has been renewed, and has now been updated. It's got a whole new look and everything!

Next to that, we've also got ourselves a guestbook! Make sure you leave a message and tell me what you think of the blog and the EGB!

In Elyes news:

As we all know, Elyes has a guest role in Apparatitions, which will be broadcast somewhere around March. Apparitions was supposed to be a two-parter, but has now been commisioned by the BBC as a longer series!
There is no word about Elyes becoming a regular, so don't jump to any conclusions, but you never know!

I mean that in both ways. Because once you've seen it, you will have to Take it Easy. You might faint, after months and months with a lack of Guppyness. No screentime, just one song.
I mean, yes, we've all played it over a hundred times and now the lyrics by heart (or is that just me?), but it's not enough, is it?
And now, finally, I've got something for you. You can read it a dozen times, print it and drool over it. Hang it above your bed, or simply use it as a background for your computer.
Whatever you wish to do with it, it is great, and a definite must-read.

I'm not running away from acting, I'm just trying something else!

After three explosive years Casualty's Dr Guppy Sandhu's leaving the show. So what's next for actor Elyes Gabel, 24?

Guppy's had some great storylines, including his current battle against a cocaine addiction. So why did you decide to leave the show?
I just felt that it was best to finish on a high. In any programme you go through peaks and troughs in terms of storylines and I've had some great ones. But it was never my intention to stay in the show for a silly length of time. Plus I think it's better that they get new blood coming in, both for the benefit of the show and for myself. I just knew that I really wanted to do something else.
That said, to be the same character for three years is a testament to how much I cared about the show and the character.

I understand you're planning to pursue a musical career...
Yes, although I'm not sure who I'd compare myself too. But it's guitar-based, funky, folk.

Will we see you on screen again?
Yes, I'm still in the fray. I'm not running away from acting. I'm just trying something else as well.

Are you pleased with your exit?
I enjoyed the last episode because it was a long burner. A lot of the time you just jump in and out of storylines. And I think that the writers gave me the chance to run with it in the end - especially in the last episode. I was very grateful for that.

Has the door been left open for you to return to the show?
Never say never...

You were in the 20th anniversary special, which was filmed in Cambodia. How was that?
It was good fun, hard work though. The people were incredible. They had a lot of pride and dignity. We weren't shooting in the big cities - we were in rural farming areas - and the one thing that struck me was the kids. When you don't realise what you're missing you play with what you have. The lack of technology... it was almost to their benefit. These people were just very happy and there was a lot to be learnt over there. It's good to get a different aspect, a change of scenery.

Did you 'find yourself out there?
I definitely think that there's scope for doing that. But I'm not going to say that I came back wanting to be a poet or anything!

Dr Guppy was beaten by racist thugs in the show. Have you experienced racism yourself?
You always experience a certain amount of bigotry no matter who you are, whether it's subtle or unseen... You just need the strength to deal with it.
It's definitely a big issue for me. There are people that look at you superficially and just see coloured skin. It's ridiculous and it does get to me. That said, I haven't experienced it a great deal. I was born here -1 lived in Canada for a bit - but I've definitely got more of a root here.

Do you feel a responsibility representing Asian characters like Guppy on screen?
I've got a very mixed race background so, although I'm not actually Asian myself, I've got distant touches of Indian in me. That's quite an interesting point - you will be more likely to take on Asian roles because that's the demographic here.
I think you have a responsibility to represent the storyline in the best way that you can. Because you're almost representing someone else who's been through that. The letters I received from people who'd been through it themselves... that definitely gave it a lot more importance.

In the past you dated Sarah Barrand, who played Shannon in Footballers'Wives. Is it easier to go out with someone who is also in the public eye?
It depends. It's different from person to person because different people have different personalities.

Are you seeing anybody now?
Sort of... But I can't say who. It's pretty early days but it is going well.

Do you get any strange fanmail?
You do get strange fanmail sometimes. I've been trying to plough through a lot of mail recently because I didn't get the chance while I was still filming. I try to respond to them all - especially if they're quite personal letters. Anything where you think that they've taken quite a lot of care and attention to write it.

How do you stay looking good?
I'm quite a sporty person so that helps. And I go to the gym a lot.

What do your family think of your success?
They're very proud of me and they're behind me 100 per cent. But they know it's a very tough business. They're pleased for me when things are going right - and there for me when things aren't going well. None of them are in the industry.

So what made you want to act?
Moving around a lot as a kid, I had to adapt to different cultures. So it was an easy thing for me to do.

Have you got lots of spare time now you've finished filming?
No, I've been really busy prepping something that I'm shooting soon, plus I'm recording stuff and I took a little while off. I'm moving, too.

Can you tell us about that new project?
It's a pilot - it's called Apparitions and I'm a guest star on it. It's quite dark, about exorcism and demons.

Who will you miss most?
I couldn't say one person. I think they're all great. Most of them I had a great relationship with. That happens when you're on location. I'll miss a hell of a lot of them.

Have you got any gigs lined up yet?
I haven't got that lined up yet. It's quite a saturated market. But trust me they're coming!

So, we have now learned that Elyes hasn't got any gigs lined up yet, isn't going to become a poet (shoot, I was so hoping for that to happen...), he had a (sort of) girlfriend at the time (that doesn't mean now, though, remember: this article is from the 16th of September) and his family is proud of him. Oh, and he tries to answer to every fanmail thing he gets.

New project!

And here was me thinking I wouldn't have anything to tell you for a while. Well, apparantly, I was wrong.

Elyes has a new part in the two-part supernatural thriller for the BBC, with lead actor Martin Shaw. The thriller is called Apparitions and is currently being filmed in Liverpool. The two-parter is set to air on BBC 1 in early 2008.

Here's a quick update on some stuff that's been going on:

For one thing, sorry I didn't post the Episode Reviews. Life has been hectic with school and everything.. I failed, and I'm sorry. I will post the last Episode Review, though :)

I, for one, will keep watching, even though it will indeed not be the same.

One of the reasons I entered this poll was because I wanted to see how many of you are willing to keep watching, even though Elyes is leaving. It turns out, many of you are. It's also because I'm trying to work out how to change the board, what to keep and what to delete.

After Elyes's departure, the EGB will undergo a complete transformation, with new categories and things like 'Casualty Chat' being deleted. This is only because Casualty won't be a part of Elyes anymore. We can always carry our Casualty discussion forward in the TV section..

Elyes quits to earn his music stripes

Fans of Casualty's dashing doctor Guppy Sandhu will be sad to hear he is leaving the medical drama.And if they're hoping to catch future small screen appearances of the actor who plays him, Elyes Gabel, they may have to wait a while.

For now, Elyes is planning to have a bit of a break from acting so he can concentrate on music. He has been writing songs for years and has his own group who play what he describes as "funky folk", who will start recording in the next few weeks.
"It's a very difficult industry to get into and you've got to be very proactive," Elyes says. "I always felt a bit precious about my stuff, and I didn't want to put it out, but that's the only way to do it.
"I'm going to put my music out, do some gigging and earn my stripes as a musician rather than take advantage of the small name I've developed in the acting industry.

Elyes, who has played SHO Guppy Sandhu for three years, has decided to quit the show - his last major storyline being that of Guppy's recent downfall into drug abuse.
The actor now plans to concentrate on music having been part of a 'funky folk' group who are about to start recording tracks. He added, 'I'm going to put my music out, do some gigging and earn my stripes as a musician rather than take advantage of the small name I've developed in the acting industry.'
Elyes has enjoyed a number of fantastic storylines during his time on the show including racial abuse and the death of his father, however his latest drug storyline has been challenging and he has been pleased the subject has been tackled. This news saddens many of us, and it took me a while to be able to post this on here, hoping that it would be some kind of August 1st joke. Like that would happen..

But, how sad this may seem now, I wish Elyes all the best in his career after Casualty, and hope that his music is listenable so I can keep adoring his work.
I will ofcourse keep you up-to-date on everything Elyes, think of all the new fun stuff we'll be able to keep track of, albums, singles, new numbers, concerts! Maybe some new acting work in the future.. all the more material for a website... (no, that was not a confirmation of the website coming online. Donate me money and I will, lol.)

I need to get things organized, for you aswell as for me. Clips and screencaps are growing in numbers (mostly thanks to shelliwood, that is), and I'm not sure what to do with it all. The prospect of opening a website is becoming more and more of an idea for me to get things improved.

Tonight's Episode: Seize the Day

I'm back with Tonight's Episode. As we all know, there has been a lot going on lately with Guppy, but I just couldn't keep track of it on the blog, but now I am determined to do well. So...here are the spoilers for tonight's episode (warning: These are big spoilers)

Guppy resists calling his dealer but his resistance is futile. Stitch goes out with the paramedics for the day and infuriates Maggie when he berates a patient's husband for interfering in his wife's suicide. The team blames Stitch when the man later kills himself, but Stitch shows no remorse. Meanwhile, Selena is having a bad day and misses a vital diagnosis. She later confides in Harry that she didn't go ahead with the abortion and is still pregnant.

Guppy is steering clear of the cocaine - just.
Meanwhile, married couple Tom and Lowri are rushed to hospital after Lowri attempted suicide.
Stitch is dismissive of Tom for intervening in the suicide attempt. When he calls off the fight to save her life, he has a dig at Tom again for calling the ambulance. Guppy tries to comfort Tom.
Elsewhere, Selena has her hands full with two bickering sisters fresh from a car accident. Just after she blows up at them, one of the sister collapses with a head injury. Harry works with Selena to save her life.
Later, Guppy finds that Tom has hanged himself. Despite attempts to revive him, Tom is declared dead. Guppy has an argument with Stitch, who is still dismissive. Upset, Guppy rings his dealer for more cocaine.

Or so it seems. Guppy is changing, the climate is changing, basically, the world is changing. And so is the blog (nothing major this time, I promise). Just a few basic patch-ups, maybe a new banner and I've been meaning to change the background.

On the Elyes news side:
Elyes has appeared - as mentioned earlier - on GMTV last week, and he appeared on BBC breakfast this morning. In both, he talked about Guppy's storyline, the drug-use, and he also played his guitar on GMTV.
I'm watching all the video-sites to try and spot the interviews, and I will post them as soon as I find them.

After various emails and messages to the support people from freeboards, the EGB's host, I've giving up all hope. Annoyed that the EGB has been down for over a week, I was finally fed up. So I opened up a back-up EGB, and it might even turn out to be the new EGB if the current one won't work.
I really didn't like making this decision, because I love the current EGB, but if you can't post, there's no real reason to keep hoping.
I still hope the support people email me back, but the chances are slim. So I hope you all will join me on the back-up EGB for now!

EGB Trouble

The host for our forum, the EGB, seems to be having some trouble. The board has been offline for a few days (which has nothing to do with me), and even though you can actually reach it now, it doesn't allow you to post.
I really hope they fix it soon and until then, my apologies.. I don't like it very much either.
Next to that, I will pick up the episode reviews next week, when my summer holiday officialy starts. Also, the other two clips will be posted :)

Poor Guppy is up against it in Casualty and turns to cocaine this week. Actor Elyes Gabel talks about this unexpected turn of events...

The life of a young hospital doctor is not an easy one, and Casualty's Guppy seems to have a tougher time than most. This week he faces the gruesome task of amputating someones hand with an axe - and that's only the start of his nightmare day.

The medic, played by 24 year old Elyes Gabel, reaches the end of his teather when he realises he made a fatal error while treating another patient earlier that day. He expects the worse when he's summoned to see Stitch (Peter O'Brien), but instead discovers that his senior colleague has an unorthodox remedy for a rough day at work - he takes cocaine to get him through.Guppy is stunned, but the temptation to take a dose of Stitch's special medicine is overwhelming. Could this be the beginning of a downward spiral for the stressed out young doctor?

Elyes, who joined the medical drama almost three years ago, talks about this week's dramatic events.

We're about to see Guppy amputate someone's hand. It sounds gruesome!
Guppy's called out to rescue a man who has fallen into a sewer and trapped his hand. His fingers are stuck and because the water level's rising quickly, Guppy has to amptuate, and as usual, he makes a hash of it!

Do these things ever turn your stomach?
I've got over the blood now - I've done enough procedures! Sometimes you feel as if you're God and that if you saw an injured person on the street you could sort them out. On set you'll be walking along talking to someone on the phone and you'll see some guy with a massive gash on his head. You have to remind yourself you work on a medical show and it's not real!

For this week's episode you had to film inside a sewer. Was that a little grim?
It was done at an army training centre in Yeovil. We were down there filming for three days and it was very dark and incredibly cold. We had water flooding down on us constantly to get the right look. It was tough - even with special weather boots and all that, you still get wet - but it helped me get in the right frame of mind. In fact it was a joy to shoot!

Guppy turns to illegal drugs this week. Is this the beginning of the end for him?
This is the turn, the pivot, for what might happen in the future. Guppy hasn't slept for a couple of days and he definately has had a hard time of it at work. I think it reflects what happens to a lot of Senior House Officers - they may not necessarily take cocaine but they do get very ragged.I don't think it's the end for Guppy. Sometimes in life you have to go through these dips before you come out on top.

Do you worry about promoting cocaine use?
I think it's important to show a three dimensional character and show people's weaknesses. We shouldn't shy away from these kinds of issues. I don't want to make judgements about it and I'm not so naive as to think that nobody's ever tried it.

Is there any excuse for Guppy taking cocaine?
Guppy's completely drained and he's thinking, "What else can I do?" Being a doctor is all he's ever wanted to do and he's despeate to find something to get him through. Taking cocaine might not be the right answer, but it's put infront of him like a golden platter and it seems like a way forward. There are some redeeming features in his behaviour and it's up to the audience to decide the rights and wrongs of it.

You were billed as the hunky new doctor when you joined the show in 2004. Was that a daunting prospect?
When I joined, I really didn't know that was the case. I was a bit innocent, I suppose. I don't think that's the way that the character's been built up. He's just had his first sexual encounter (with medical student Maria in last weeks episode) and that was obviously unsuccessful!

What do you like to do when you aren't at work?
I play a lot of sport and I play the guitar. I'm sort of in a band and we do a few gigs, but we don't do anything that is too serious. It's just for fun.

What would you have done if you hadn't gone into acting?
I've never really thought about it. I might have gone to university or I might have taken a few years out, gone to Seville in Spain and worked on an orange farm! I grew up wanting to be an actor and did loads of stuff at school. When you're young you don't realise what an unreliable career it can be.

What was your first big break in the business?
I was very lucky. I went to drama school, but after the first year because I got cast in a childrens show called I Love Mummy. I wasn't sure that I should leave drama school, but I talked to people in the industry and they said, "Are you kidding? Just do it, mate!" I didn't want to miss the opportunity and it meant I had the chance to learn on the job.

Are you still going out with Sarah Barrand from Footballer's Wives?
No, but there is possibly someone else in my life at the moment. However, I don't really want to talk about her. For the sake of keeping things normal I think it's much better to keep quiet about this sort of thing.

A binman is crushed by his lorry after rescuing a baby discarded with the rubbish, and a teenager is admitted with a post-natal haemorrhage - much to her mother's disbelief. Selena's past catches up with her and begins to affect her work as she and Nathan find themselves the subject of gossip, while Stitch plays Cupid for Guppy.

Review: 21.38 A Long Way From Home

Terrified for Sam, Tess searched the city throughout the night. The following day, news came in of a serious incident involving a young boy of Sam's description. Tess rushed to the scene but was told it wasn't him.
Dixie announced to the paramedics that she was looking for a volunteer to relocate. Later that day, Greg defied her orders on a shout leaving Dixie wondering whether he should be the one to go.
Following a tip off, Abs discovered Sam in a homeless refuge and persuaded him to return. Tess' joy at seeing him quickly turned to despair when Sam revealed he was leaving to go travelling in Thailand. Alice raced to catch Sam before he left.
Arriving just in time, she tried to tell him how she felt. At a loss for words, Alice seized the moment and kissed him. A tearful Sam told her he had to go, leaving Alice bereft in Tess' arms.

Was and Ok eppy, not the best. I miss Sam though, to be honest i thought he storyline was pretty rubbish, but i knew that was coming anyway! I thought the endign was sweet, with Alice- i felt so sorry for her. I loved Abs in this eppy! I thought he was so sweet, and the way he was with Tess aswell. Aww bless... - Guppyfan-no1

I was glad to see that Guppy stood up to Stitch and stuck to what he believed was right in resus, even though Stitch was actually right, it showed that he doesn't just believe Stitch without thinking for himself. But then he was upset when the patient died I'm hoping that won't affect him too negatively in the weeks to come.
(...) Stitch with that man was brilliant! He's so gone back up in my estimation after last night, he actually does have a heart, even though he showed it in his own special way! (...) And the lorry crashing was a proper old school Cas stunt! - Nezza (She's like our queen of reviews)

Not many comments, mostly just derailement to Guppy's car, if he has one. So here are my comments again:

Sam!!! But wow, that ending was sweet! Poor Alice, though... The beginning where Tess and Abs were with those homeless people was really emotional, I felt sorry for Tess.You know what I can't understand? Dixie says one of the paramedics has to relocate. So? Big deal, take one of those nameless people we see in the background all the time. Why does she have to pick one of the main cast? What's that all about? - Like Sapphire said, almost all storylines could be avoided like that, but still. It's not fair.

Congratulations to the Casualty Cast & Crew for winning the BAFTA for Best Continuing Drama. To everybody's surprise, they've beaten the big soaps Eastenders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

Sadly, not everybody is happy for the Cas cast & crew. Someone at the guardian wrote this:

"And God knows why Casualty has sneaked into the lists as a nominee for Best Continuing Drama ("Continuing Drama" is the euphemism for soap). Is it because of its dogged pursuit of laughably bad storylines and its rather amusing fantasy that medical staff in A&E departments have time to sort out your family issues, plump up your pillows and dispense wise advice along with the plaster casts and paracetamol?"

I would hunt him/her down, but he/she's not worth it.

Josh was taken aback when Dixie gave him a stiff talking to for bossing her about on his first day back. Elsewhere, Tess rushed off to tell Sam that she'd made it through to a dance competition with Abs. Unable to find Sam, Tess quizzed the others and quickly sussed that he hadn't showed up for work. Overcome with guilt, Alice confessed she'd told Sam that Tess and Abs were seeing each other. Elsewhere, Nathan put pressure on Selena to have an abortion. But later that day, he managed to bond with a pair of unruly kids who shared his passion for sci-fi. Delighted with his new found parenting skills, Nathan urged Selena to keep the baby. After searching Sam's room, Greg and Alice discovered that he'd left without his medication. Frantic with worry, Tess broke down in tears and headed off to look for Sam. Charlie, Abs, Kelsey, Alice and Greg all volunteered to help.

I'm glad Stitch was only in the ep for a little bit, we saw the positive effects that his influence on Guppy's had; he was more confident with which cases he could deal with, by taking a more complex case than he was meant to, and just being more confident in general in actually dealing with patients.
Last night's ep was one of the funniest ones I've seen in a long while! The Doctor Proctor scene was absolute genius! "BS Syndrome"!! And there were quite a few brilliant one-liners too, loved Abs' "Kels, nicotine patch, highly recommended" And even Nathan managed to make me laugh... - Nezza

Where was Guppy with the Sam-search? Everybody was there, he should have been there. I guess he was studying or whatever, but still.
Nathan doesn't know what he wants. Get rid of the baby, keep the baby! Only because those children actually liked him doesn't mean his child will be the same. He should make up his mind. Why would Selena keep the baby anyway? I mean..it's Nathan's! - June

After six months in Pakistan, Josh landed at Holby airport, ready to start a new life. But when the plane got stuck on the tarmac, a young Muslim boy threw a suspect bag on the floor and jumped off. Josh examined the boy and toldthe police they were dealing with a diabetic rather than a terrorist but they forced him to back off. Elsewhere, Alice voiced her suspicions to Samabout Tess and Abs. Back at Casualty, Josh passed on his diagnosis of the Muslim boy. Elsewhere, Selena broke the news to Nathan that she was expecting his baby. Confounded by his insensitivity, she told him she wouldn't be keeping it. Having diffused the terrorist alert, Josh realised that he'd always be a paramedic and told Charlie he'd withdraw his resignation. Outside, a shocked Sam watched Abs greet Tess and walk off arm in arm.

I thought the terrorist storyline was quite old-school Cas really, I'm glad to see that they haven't stopped shying away from controversial/political storylines. I thought it was really good, definitely the best storyline we've had in an ep for a long time (bar the Christmas/Cambodia eps of course!). (...) I wish the SWs hadn't spent so long faffing around with Sam & Alice, there was this one scene last night where they were so cute together. I kinda wish Alice hadn't told him about Tess & Abs now... - Nezza

As you've probably noticed, I finally managed to make and put up a banner on the blog. Hope you like it ;) I know I do.

Also, I've added a link section for all the specials. We've only had one special so far, but I'm planning much, much more. So if you want to find the special of your choice quickly, just click on the link :)

Then there's the EGW album. I've made a Picasa web album for the blog, where all the screencaps, fanart, and other Guppy/Elyes pictures that are posted on here will appear in the albums. So far, I've only got the 'Screencap album' and an 'Avatars' album, and in that last one there are no pictures so far.

Guppy took Stitch up on a challenge to see who could deal with the most routine cases. In his haste, Guppy scared a woman half to death and nearly killed a young boy. Alice was gobsmacked to see Tess and Abs practicing an intimate dance routine.
Elsewhere, Dixie made a snide comment when Greg showed off his and Cyd's holiday snaps. Stitch alarmed Charlie by forcing Guppy to make a life or death decision.
Meanwhile, Jeff encouraged Dixie to talk about her feelings for Cyd and fixed her up with a mate. Alice told an incredulous Kelsey that Abs and Tess were seeing each other.
Elsewhere, Selena was absolutely horrified to discover that Nathan was the father of her baby.

I hate Stitch with an absolute passion!! The bet was putting patients lives at risk, putting the ED in danger, and putting Guppy's medical career at risk. If Guppy really wants to not have another day like that he's got to wake up and see Stitch for what he really is. He may be a very good doctor, but he just doesn't seem to have the patients interests at heart; and if this continues it's going to get much worse than it did last night. The Jacket Special

I told you it would be here soon.
Throughout these amazing years that Guppy has filled our screens, he has worn several jackets, not shown that much, but definitly there. The jacket of last Saturday's episode, 'Lush', showed us his new jacket, which caused a discussion at the episode review. We lined up all his jackets (well, actually, Sapphire - Jacket Expert - did that..) So here we go, an extravaganza of all of Guppy's jackets.
Caution: High rate of sarcasm ahead.

1.
Worn in: Series 19
Description: A light blue, simple jacket with a nice cut collar. And I believe it's a button one, not a zipper.

2.
Worn in: Series 19 & 20

Description: This first jacket is a dark, but not really, blue-ish colour. It has a casual look, sure to make the ladies go mad. (but he doesn't need a jacket for that..) It looks like Jacket nr. 1, but looks can be deceiving. It really isn't.

3.
Worn in: Series 20
Description: This is a darker, a little more casual jacket. Different to the others, this one shows that Guppy's finally starting to losen up a bit. He's not even wairing a tie anymore! (wait...wrong special..)

4.
Worn in: Series 21
Description: This jacket was only spotted twice, both during winter time, so it could be safe to say this is a winter jacket. It has a nice hood, and is of the longer kind, making sure Guppy is warm during the icy, snowy *coughs* winter.

5.
Worn in: Series 21
Description: The jacket that caused all this; the new jacket. This time, Guppy is showing a stylish, but casual jacket. Again, in a darker colour. As you can see, the inside is light, with a handy inside pocket for all his...stuff. Sadly, I could find only one screencap of this quite amazing jacket, but we will hopefully find more soon.

Extra Jackets:
Guppy's hasn't only worn normal jackets. Ofcourse not, he's a doctor. Here are the remaining jackets in Guppy's collection.

The Classic Doctor's Jacket
Shown on Guppy's first episode. He was eager to impress, and decided to wear his classical doctors jacket. Obviously, everybody mocked him.

The Paramedic Jacket
The glorious (or not so glorious) day that Guppy got to go with the paramedics for work experience. Wasn't that lovely? He wore a nice fluorent green and dark green paramedics jacket with glow-in-the-dark PARAMEDIC letters on the back.

So there you have it, all of Guppy's jackets nicely lined up for you. Hope you liked it!

New Lay-out!

New Lay-out is up! It's simpler than the last one, but this one is lighter and a bit easier to use and find stuff. I saved the other one though, so it might pop back up some day.

A little tip:
If you want to find a certain group of post, for example all the old episode reviews, you can easily find them by going to 'Labels' on the right hand side of the blog, click on it, and click on the label you want to find.
So in this case, click 'Episode Review', and all the past episode reviews should appear.

Also, I'm glad to say that we have two new members in two days on the EGB, which is great. We're growing, and I know there are more of you out there!

The episode review for last saturday's episode will come up soon, I just have to work through the 3-4 pages of comments that have been made first...
And I'm also working on a special, the Guppy's Jackets special, featuring all Guppy's jackets and their special features. There's a discussion going on over at the EGB about that, and I thought it might be fun. And it kills time.

Quick Update

Just a quick update from me.
Thing have been really busy on the board, so there will be a huge episode review coming up this week, I think it's the best discussed episode yet. Probably because of all the Guppy in it :)

Something else, I'm working on a photo album to accompany the blog, and I'm also working on a weekly Guppy clip, which I will upload to YouTube and post on here once a week, but that's only if I get permission from shelliwood to use her vids, because I don't have any of the episodes and thus can't make any clips..
Also, the lay-out might change soon, but I'm not too sure yet. This will probably stick around for a while to come.

Apologies and Errors

Sorry! I know I've missed the last two episode reviews, but everything has been really busy and I couldn't keep up. I hope to update and catch up soon though.

But the main reason for my sudden re-appearence is the fact that the forum is playing up again. Freeboards seems to be having some trouble (...again), and nobody is able to post or read the 'Random Talk' topic. This glitch isn't my fault, and I sure hope freeboards fix it soon.

Till then, there's nothing I can do really, so just keep your fingers crossed in the hope that freeboards wakes up and fixes the problem!

Review: 21.31 Stitch

While on a jolly at a casino, Bardon mocked Nathan's inability to recruit a new consultant. This was overheard by a mystery man called Stitch. Later, a knifing took place and Stitch saved the victim while Nathan looked on.
Dixie urged Cyd to go home but she refused to listen. She convinced Greg to help her look for Kira's baby and after searching all night they finally found her. Greg seized his opportunity and kissed Cyd.
Nathan introduced Selena to Stitch but she was unimpressed with his handy work. The tension grew between them as Stitch questioned her judgement.
Meanwhile, Alice persuaded a reluctant Tess to allow Sam on a paramedic shift.
Stitch conned Nathan into offering him the consultant job with an enormous salary. Knowing he'd lied, Selena told Stitch to turn it down but he accepted anyway. Nathan was delighted and thrilled he'd found his man.

Still reeling from Greg's infidelities with Andrea, Cyd refused to make amends with the apologetic paramedic. During a shout, she felt a strong connection to an Irish lass called Kira who later died.
Jeff persuaded a psychic to predict a winner on a horse race. Expecting to come up trumps, he rallied the troops for a party. A humiliated Jeff promptly cancelled the celebration when the horse lost. Nadia failed to impress Abs with Kylie tickets.
Elsewhere, convinced Kira's spirit was trying to communicate with her, Cyd informed Kira's parents that their daughter had a baby. Horrified, Kira's father demanded Cyd be dismissed for causing unnecessary distress.
Meanwhile, Dixie and Greg became gravely concerned for Cyd's welfare.

Ok, ok, worst updater ever. I know. I've just been busy, you know? Anyway, ready to start of with review nr. 1, the Comic Relief special:

Killjoy Nathan pulled the plug on the staff's Comic Relief fundraising efforts and advised them to stop wasting NHS time. Outside, Abs geared up for a sponsored sleep-out in his camper van.
Former nurse Megan Roach turned up at Holby to see her grandson, Colum. Whilst she was reminiscing with Charlie, Colum had a psychotic episode. He jumped into Abs' van and dangerously sped off.
Back in Holby, Sam cleverly tricked comedian Angus Deayton into hosting a charity 'slave' auction. Meanwhile, Abs' van veered off the road after Colum lost control. Luckily, they both managed to escape with their lives.
At the auction, Nadia made an extremely extravagant bid for Guppy. Elsewhere, Megan gave Nathan a talking to. Her words hit home and to everyone's astonishment, Nathan made a generous donation to the Comic Relief swear box.

'Sweet Charity' : Sam, Alice, Guppy, Kelsey and other staff members attempt various fundraising schemes for Comic Relief, much to Nathan's annoyance and he bans any further fundraising. Angus Deayton is at the hospital to have a splinter removed from his finger. Sam blackmails him into helping them with an auction for Comic Relief. Nathan then changes his mind after speaking to a former nurse at the hospital and supports the staff's attempts to raise money.

Richard Curtis co-wrote this heavily Comic Relief-themed episode, so you can expect a bit more lesson-learning than normal, (Note: Like casualty isn't always lesson-learning!) particularly right at the end, when staff are given a few home truths about the reasons behind this week's funfest. Just about everyone in the hospital is fundraising, despite the vocal misgivings of tedious, lunk-headed boss Nathan. Brownies for a pound, sponsored sleep-outs - you name it, all money-earning ideas are here. As is Brenda Fricker, making a welcome return to the wards after an 18-year-absence. She adds a bit of class to the proceedings and there's an unexpectedly touching scene where she soothes the distressed brow of her troubled, mentally ill grandson. Watch out, too, for Angus Deayton, playing himself as a grumpy comic who's blackmailed into MC-ing the hospital's slave auction. Very silly.

Review: 21.28 Combat Indicators (part 2)

Cyd tried to avoid Andrea but they were forced to work together on a live bomb site. Despite Cyd's best efforts, a young boy died. Greg comforted her and was annoyed with Andrea for being so dismissive.
Back at Holby, Kelsey was star struck by a news anchor who was injured in the blast. He asked Kelsey to star in a special report but ditched her in favour of Nadia. To get her own back, Kelsey sabotaged the report.
Greg realised that there was no longer any spark between him and Andrea and told her it was over. Elsewhere, Selena warned Nathan that she would make things very difficult for him if Andrea didn't leave.
Andrea told Nathan that she was leaving. Not missing a trick, Nathan informed Selena that he'd given her the boot. Meanwhile, Greg tried to get back with Cyd but, to Dixie's delight, shewasn't interested.

Review: 21.27 Combat Indicators (part 1)

Harry's replacement, Lieutenant Colonel Andrea Peterson, immediately rubbed the staff up the wrong way with her brusque manner. Selena gave her a talking to but got a distinctly frosty reception. Nadia persuaded Guppy to give a suppository because her fingernails were too long. When Andrea asked him why he was doing a nurse's job, he covered for Nadia saying that she'd been called away. Greg was stunned when he realised that the new doctor was his ex. Andrea told Greg that she'd left her husband and reminded him that he'd promised to wait a year for her. Andrea found Greg in the back of an ambulance and asked him if he loved Cyd. Unable to answer, he kissed her. Just as things were heating up, Dixie and Cyd flung open the door.

Just thought I'd give you a quick update of what's been happening in Gabel-land:
Nothing. Thanks for that.

I do, however, have some nice info about tonights episode:
There are absolutely no Guppy action spoilers, and Elyes is tenth on the list of actors, which means he won't appear that much...again.

Elsewhere, Nadia persuades Guppy to give a patient a suppository for her. Andrea is angry when she finds him carrying out a nurse's procedure and Kelsey is made to do it instead.

Review: 21.26 The Killing Floor

New to the EG Blog, reviews. Time for last saturdays episode: The Killing Floor.

Re-cap:
Selena turned up with a smile on her face after spending the night with Harry. Disappointed when Harry didn't call, she sought reassurance from Maggie. Just at that moment, a huge bouquet of flowers arrived. New nurse Nadia cheekily parked her sports car in Nathan's spot. Kelsey delighted in informing him of the culprit but was denied a showdown when he discovered that Nadia's father had made a generous donation to the trust. Fed up with Nadia's little princess ways, Kelsey turned down her offer of a drink. As she was leaving, Nadia discovered that her car had a flat tyre. To Kelsey's horror, Abs, Sam and Guppy fell for her sweet-talk and proved more than willing to help. Nathan intercepted Selena's text message from Harry thanking her for a wonderful night. Ridden with jealousy, he deleted it and told her that the flowers were from him. Distraught, Selena left a message for Harry asking him not to call.

Happy Anniversary to the Elyes Gabel Board! We would be out there partying now, but freeboards is messing with me again, reporting an error. I just hope they fix it today. If not, I'll be dissapointed, but there's nothing else to do but celebrate the one year and a day anniversary of the EGB tomorrow.

So..it's the day before the day after today. And as you can see, the blog has got a whole new look, again! I'll probably change the lay-out again, beca
use, well, this one hasn't got a linkbar, comment section or archive section. I'm just looking into some new layouts. I really love this one though, even though it hasn't got everything. It's just so..pretty.

Blueprints...sort of

As you might see, some changes have been made. I'm still working on the HTML and stuff, so the lay-out will change over the next couple of days. Some news:

Saturday 3rd of February:
Elyes Gabel is on the list on Radiotimes, so he is expected to be in tonight's episode. If not, somebody at Radiotimes is going to get hurt. Badly.

Celebrity Fame Academy is back. The contestants aren't reveiled just yet, so keep your fingers crossed and hope that Elyes has been asked!

So, only one more day in 2006, and boy, am I going to make some changes on here. The reason that I haven't posted in so long is
1) there isn't much Guppy/Elyes action going on and;
2) I didn't like the way the blog looked, and left it to be taken care of some other time.
It seems now, that some other time has come. But what keeps me going is input, feedback, comments. Please, leave your comment, mark your place as an Elyes fan by joining the forum (http://www.freeboards.net/elyesgabel), and leaving a comment on the blog (by clicking on 'comments' below the posts)

Don't have much time for an update at the moment. There's not very much news today, except that there was no Guppy last night which wasn't very nice, but hey, we'll survive.

You all from the Elyes Gabel Board know me, but those who don't, here's a little something about me...

I'm June, 15 years old, and I live in the Netherlands. I have been an Elyes fan for a while now, and started the Elyes Gabel Board almost a year ago. I met loads of new friends there and it's an absolute pleasure, so if you're not a member yet, go and sign in! Join the fun!

About the blog...
I've been thinking about starting an Elyes website for a while, but I don't have the time nor the money to do so. This, however, is free (I'm such a loser, aren't I?), and I can publish my foundings (I do Elyes research everyday, it's save to say I'm addicted) and just be myself.
Screencaps, pictures, episode reviews and maybe some interesting discussions from the Board will be posted.
